Thanksgiving math & 中文 mini-pack

Three ten-minute activities for the week before Thanksgiving: multiply by 11 with turkeys, share pumpkin pies with double-and-half, and trace 谢, the character for thanks. Do them here with instant checking, or print the free 3-page PDF.

Turkey times 11

Each turkey has a two-digit number on its feathers. Multiply it by 11 in your head, type the answer, and tap Check.

The trick: split the two digits apart, add them, and put the sum in the middle. 23 × 11 → 2, (2+3), 3 → 253. If the middle sum is 10 or more, carry the 1 to the left.

Pumpkin pie halves

Each pie problem is "something × 5". Halve the even number and double the 5, and the hard problem turns into an easy one.

The trick: 14 × 5 → half of 14 is 7, double 5 is 10 → 7 × 10 = 70. The answer stays the same because the 2 just moves across.

0 of 12 right so far.

Trace 谢谢 and 感恩

Say it out loud, then trace the grey character with a finger or pencil. The first box of each pair is darker, the second is fainter, and the last one is yours.

谢谢xiè xie · thank you
感恩gǎn ēn · to be grateful

I am thankful for… 我感恩…

Print it for the table.

The same three activities as a 3-page PDF with an answer key. No email needed. Want more? Full 10-page packs are $1.99 each on Etsy, instant download.

For grown-ups: answers are checked in the page and nothing is saved or sent anywhere. "New numbers" makes a fresh set, so the page is good for more than one sitting. The ×11 trick works for any whole number; see the demo for big ones.
